Pros
I really loved my job before things took a turn and I was extremely good at it. Just wish I would’ve been in a good office with good staff.
Cons
I was conflicted for a long time on if I wanted to write a review. I figured It wouldn’t make a difference for such a large company. However people coming in to this should know a couple things. You will be bullied especially if you start as a leasing consultant. At first things were great I loved doing the training and understanding the value and core of the company. Seems like it started with great people who just wanted to work together to make a difference. Shortly after I started I met my regional (sherry) who I really liked. She gave me girl boss energy and I loved it. I had heard so many bad things about her though. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY FIRST CLUE. It wasn’t. I wanted to succeed in this company so bad. I was hungry- and when I say that I mean I wanted to be the best. I wanted every lease, I loved doing tours. I was happy to show/sell my product. I thought for sure I’d be moving on up in the company. Well my property manager and assistant were the worst. They bullied me every single day, as well as the maintenance staff. They constantly spoke to them using curse words and called them things like lazy and “sorry”. They constantly made me sparkle multiple units to the point where I’d have to clock out but still work after hours to catch up on my work for the day because I’d be behind from sparkling 7 plus units a day. On weekends If I worked I’d come in a hour early (unpaid) just to try to get ahead, If I didn’t On Monday morning I would be belittled In front of our whole team at our morning huddle. During the week they’d make me go out several times a week to do “marketing” which would put me even more behind. I had only been with the company a month at this time but I was determined. If this is what I had to do to get a seat at the table I was ready. I knew company policy’s and when I’d go to follow them (anything with a pet or club house rental) if it was one of their favorite residents I’d catch hell for following company policy and was sent a email containing even more things to do. If I didn’t know how to do it I couldn’t ask them (community/assistant manager) for help. I’d have to go back through my training notes that I took and try to figure it out. If somebody walked in like “Prairie dog” tradition they expect you to stop what your doing stand up from your desk and greet whoever is coming in the door. Only at the property I worked at I was the only one who Ever greeted anyone and if I didn’t- doesn’t matter if i was on the phone or not I’d be paying for it later. I have so many more stories, but the truth is you are just bottom of the barrel. These people can treat you any type of way and you either deal with it or leave like I did. My community manager and regional were on a first name/ text everyday relationship basis. So me personally I felt like my only option was to quit. I had no one to turn to. Hopefully somebody reads this and makes some huge adjustments, this company will loose a lot of good people if they continue to keep the bad ones safe.
