Be careful - Pilot Contour Aviation Employee Review

Pros

Maybe a good option for low time pilots that need to just get in, get experience, and get out.

Cons

Safety is only a marketing term to this company. Expect no quality of life, you will rarely be home. Sales runs the company, they will do anything and everything to complete a scheduled flight, and you will be expected to conceal maintenance issues and any other issue to passengers to help the company save face and keep up the facade that it is a high flying executive level luxury charter business. Bear in mind that this is a 135 airline masquerading as a "scheduled carrier" because of the loosely cobbled together EAS route structure. Not a 121 airline. Just about every operating practice at Contour would be illegal in the 121 world, and pushes the limits of legality even under part 135.

Pros

As a mechanic, you have job security. The planes break down constantly due to band-aid repairs to make the next flight.

Cons

The airline's customer reviews are a direct reflection of the upper management. They do not care about you or your time. If the plane isn't fixed, you're not leaving. You can leave work after a 20-hour shift, and they expect you to be back on-site in 4-6 hours. Mx planning has no clue what they are doing, and Mx control knows it. They will schedule every inspection for one day because it makes their jobs easier. They have no clue what the inspections they schedule actually entail or how long they take. They will not tell you that your time off is vested only. If you accept the job in January, you will not have any vacation days to use for the entire year. If you accept the job in November, you will have the days earned from Nov - Dec to use the following year. Have kids? Don't worry, they won't hesitate to call you into work at 4 am on Christmas Day.
