Pros
If you are 30 and not a Progressive, you don't have a heart. You will meet many big-hearted people here. The patients are very grateful. Some days you feel like you make a difference.
Cons
Generally high stress. Salaries are well below average. You won't be able to pay your student loans without moonlighting else-where. The chances that you will qualify for loan repayment are very small. There is no maternity leave. There is no significant retirement plan for new hires. Health insurance is relatively expensive. You probably won't be able to buy a house. There is no limit to the number of patients you will be assigned and many don't speak English (there are translators), You will work a great deal of unpaid OT. It has been difficult to hire more MDs to share the work.
