Pros

I worked in two different departments on two different occasions. The only pro I can think of is that one time I got the flu and missed a week, came back, and my manager told me to go home because he didn’t think I was fully recovered.

Cons

All of the big wigs graduated from the same private school, that should be red flag number one. I have worked in several different hospitals and never seen so many people with bad attitudes that seem like they are miserable and on guard all the time. I’m a big believer that physical atmosphere makes a huge difference in employee morale, and while hospitals aren’t supposed to be fancy, this one needs upgrading in every way. From the yellow tint that the fluorescent lights cast on everything, to the outdated wall art, it is an oppressive environment. Certain departments won’t eat in the cafeteria anymore because of feuds with other departments.

Pros

Work peers are most amazing

Cons

-Communication is lacking -work/life balance is hard to achieve -management does not value or respect scrub techs -Quit giving merit raises; only give out COLA raises every few years -Vacation/time off is not approved until mere weeks before making it hard to plan time with family and time away from work -Always understaffing so patient care suffers -Plays favorites with patients (certain patients get better care than others) -Management also plays favorites -Zero consistency in how staffing is handled -Have to work with subpar/broken equipment because it won't get approved by admins, but pays 1-Mill for sim lab -overall this administration does not care about their staff or patients, I honestly do not know how they "win" the awards they do. It is not and has not been the "best place to work" in many years....
