Pros

Interesting technology stack, even if a bit heavy on outdated legacy services. Very good work to life balance. Work from home easily done and supported by management.

Cons

Absolutely no change in SDLC practices while I was there and no conversation about ever doing so from senior management. Each software development team defined its own practices with no commonality across teams whatsoever. No ownership of platform pieces by teams and a firmly stated expectation that each person needed to understand the entire system top to bottom and be able to work on those pieces at the needs of the business leadership at any time. There are over 600 GIT repos! Business owners had no concept of agile software development practices and wanted everything tomorrow with no guarantee that the team assigned the work has ever worked in that space before. It was a crushing mental weight that was only alleviated somewhat by decent PTO and good team managers and very little overtime.

Thank you for sharing your experience and for providing such detailed feedback about your time with Corpay. We are pleased to hear that you found value in the technology stack, appreciated the work-life balance, and felt supported by your immediate managers and team. These are strengths we want every employee to experience. At the same time, we recognize the challenges you’ve described around software development lifecycle practices and organizational structure. We regret any unnecessary stress or inefficiencies these may have caused. We understand that inconsistent approaches across teams, a lack of ownership over specific systems, and the “everyone owns everything” mentality can make it challenging to work efficiently and can lead to unnecessary stress. Your comments on technical debt, process inconsistency, and expectations around agile practices reinforce our unwavering commitment to improvement. They emphasize the importance of enhancing alignment, investing in robust SDLC frameworks, and empowering teams to develop in-depth expertise in their product domains. Your advice about enabling teams to take ownership of specific areas, fostering incremental improvement, and ensuring accountability is particularly valuable. We agree that this kind of focus not only supports efficiency and accuracy but also helps reduce rework and creates opportunities for professional growth. We sincerely appreciate the contributions you made during your time here. Your dedication and insights have been invaluable, and they will continue to inform ongoing improvements in how we support our technology teams. We wish you the very best in your future career endeavors.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your contributions at Corpay. We appreciate your recognition of the strong work-life balance and management support you experienced. It is valuable to know that aspects of your time here were positive and well-supported. At the same time, we understand how deeply that experience can change when repeated layoffs begin to affect not only teams, but also the leaders and managers employees rely on most. When layoffs feel widespread and disconnected from performance or productivity, it can create a strong sense of instability and uncertainty for everyone who remains. Employees want to believe that hard work, consistency, and contribution matter, and when that connection feels unclear, it can seriously impact morale, trust, and long-term confidence in the organization. Your feedback highlights the significant impact leadership decisions have on the employee experience. Even with a strong team culture, workforce reductions can overshadow daily positives and leave employees feeling unsettled or undervalued. The loss of trusted colleagues can make it challenging to maintain engagement, support, and balance. Thank you for sharing your perspective and advice. Your feedback underscores the importance of employees feeling heard and respected during major decisions. It also reminds leadership to listen closely to those closest to the work and culture.
