Pros

If you want to help others reach their goals and make a difference, join RivCo DPSS. We serve a diverse community and there are lots of opportunities.

Cons

Promoting is difficult unless you are liked and loved by others. A strong work ethic and hard work is not recognized. Individuals are not promoted based on ability, hard work, achievement, and experience. It's a game of who like who, and who will not out perform me/outshine me. Upper management is all talk and no action. Workers are allowed to under-perform or do minimal work and keep their jobs. It's a disservice to those we serve. There's no accountability. Those that get paid the most don't do anything. If you have a strong work ethic and value yourself and your abilities, look elsewhere. At DPSS, you won't be able to beat them. You will have to join them. My colleagues tell me you can under perform and still get paid.......

Pros

The people in my department were all great and incredibly friendly, so even as a newcomer temp I felt like part of a true team. They're willing to offer advice and help with anyone else, and the general vibe is always nice. Other than that, communication is good, everyone's kept in the loop day-to-day.

Cons

Communication between departments can be a little strained, but it's pretty rare. Wifi connection in the offices is also prone to being spotty, but it's workable.

Pros

I have a great supervisor and co-workers. Benefits are pretty decent.

Cons

Higher management tends to micro manage and add the most ridiculous tasks on to every day tasks. They tend to make decisions based on what will make them look best, rather than what will helpfully serve our community. It's almost as if they do not know the average customer we are serving, because they have been so far removed from the lower end job classifications.
