Pros

Benefits, matched 401K, tons of services to sell. Many ways to make money if you can get past the constant changes and hurdles.

Cons

You are micromanaged everyday, you are booked in Multiple meetings a week rather then being out selling as an outside sales rep. Expected to be in the office 4 days a week soon 5, again as an outside direct sales rep, this is unheard of from many other sales jobs. With the time you have left to prospect after account management and tasks, you have to adapt to constant changes in products, your comp plan, your title and let alone your actual role. The management hands out write ups like it’s candy on Halloween, with verbal and finals. Expecting you to have your stuff together when they clearly don’t. Even upper management and VPs admitting that they know things are not perfect and they are not going to get it perfect the first time when they make all these territory and title changes yet expect you to have your stuff together regardless if they do or not. Culture is horrible at the office, many fear for their jobs. I can name more then half of sales reps that are not happy and do not like management, complain about the hostile environment, and the constant pressure even with contestant changes. Now that I have moved on and spoke to many other professionals and companies I have not had one person agree with the system they have set in place at Cox. The scare tactics they use for your job security is so wrong. I should have left a long time ago. I just really thought things would change and held on to the family I had created there. It was bitter sweat to have the call that I was being let go due to performance, 30 days into a new role after having 3 titles and 4 different job descriptions there in less then 2 years, with no prior IT experience and was given a higher quota then almost everyone in my office that was there way longer then I was. I almost feel like from the beginning I was hired at a horrible big transition time they were doing and was set up to fail even though I really was working to try and adapt. For the low salary they offer I don’t think they could have had any more of a motivated person to work there that went with the flow and accepted every change with open arms and was willing to adapt and do what it took to bring future success. I should have been hired way before the big changes they made or later in life to be successful there. From the start I was just in a bad spot to be at Cox, and now everyone is, with the new way of things.

Pros

Learned alot with 20+ years with the company, fun place to work, meet great people, Awesome pay.

Cons

Management will throw you under the bus to save themselves, will not stick up for employees, supervisor yelling at team meetings, slamming things around and acting childish. Best micromanager out there.
