Pros
Traditionally they have been one of the better cable companies. I rarely hear the horror stories from our company that do about some of the other providers. When they do make a mistake they try to make it up to the customer. The company makes a strong effort to be employee friendly and focused on the customer. There are many talented people working across the enterprise. Overall they are working to keep up with their competitors and offer new products. The people on the front lines are doing the best they can to keep up with the changes due to massive reorganizations. Lots of paid time off helps the work/life balance.
Cons
The health benefits have gotten worse every year since I started. Good luck if you ever have to use them... The reorganization the company has gone through in the past two years has caused problems in many areas. Many departments are over worked and under staffed in the name of cost cutting. The company used to be very careful when making decisions but that seems to have changed. Some very poor decisions have been made such as the company's short lived cell service offering and rolling out tools and back end systems that work poorly or not at all. I have doubts about the 5 year outlook of Cox remaining competitive as a communications provider. Their internet speeds are only now catching up to the competition and let's face it, that is the only thing people really want from the cable company anymore.
