Pros

Good industry recognition for some products; routinely hire graduates

Cons

Business Systems (Kaizens, KPI's,, etc.) are not used effectively and implementation of improvements falls short due to overworked employees, lack of investment in equipment, automation, technology and training; information communicated up does not reflect reality. Highly matrixed organization with high rate of turnover in C-suite level management has very negative impact on strategy development. Top heavy management structure combined with high turn over does not allow for long term growth strategies, empowerment of mid management, focused improvements or stability in the organization. Company highlights technology and the Crane Business Systems as a consistent and positive focus across the companies however Excel and PowerPoint seem to be the technology of choice with most companies running with systems that are 20-30 years past their prime. Short sighted approach to long term growth. This is a company that serves the Shareholders to a fault. Out of touch with the markets served, trailing far behind competitors in many businesses, no readily apparent plans to be a more competitive employer.

Pros

None. They took all our benefits and overwork everyone. Moral is in hell.

Cons

Everything. I can't think of one good think about Crane Co. The culture is abhorrent and archaic. They tout that they care for employees but then take all the benefits we had and expect us to thank them for it and work harder for less. Crane overpaid for our businesses and now they are desperately trying to squeeze us for anything they can get, but they are not making back the $1B they spent in the next 20+ years. I loved my job and the company I work for before they took over.
