Pros

Some really smart people to work with. Products acquired from Bakerhughes were very competitive and fun to work on PRIOR to Crane acquisition.

Cons

Crane acquired Reuter Stokes (previously owned by Bakerhughes) and squeezed it and customers for every last penny. Layoffs and increased pricing of every product. Introduction of a "B" customer, a customer that doesn't buy enough and therefore gets worse pricing and worse service for the SAME products, and instructed not to let"B" customers know. No remote work anymore since Crane acquisition. Us vs them mentality. Crane pushes their methods and policies without regard to what was done prior. Expensive health care and reduction of 401k match. No engineering level increases for those designing. Comply or get out mentality. Horrid attrition and Crane is clueless how long it takes to train new employees and engineers for specialized hand built products. Very lean and no plans for backfills. No plans for innovations of products or new products. No employee surveys to understand why people were leaving and why moral was so low. Their actions show (and Chris Mitchell said!) Just let them go if they want. Presents itself like a greedy corporation taking every last penny while the morale and reputation go down in flames.

Pros

Quick money…. That’s about it

Cons

Tons!! You can be the best technician this company has, but if you’re not in the click you will never be compensated for it! This place strictly is built on being a kiss butt if you don’t rub your supervisor legs you will never make it past a technician, I’ve seen guys with hardly any experience come in a get promoted to full time employee in less then 2 years by sitting beside there supervisor and building a relationship in and outside of work, and they flourish. I however don’t work that way so I continue to see people advance that I train!!! Can’t wait for a new chapter in my life to start so I can leave this company. Ohh did I mention the office support, sucks!! They screw your pay up constantly and just work for you when it’s convenient for themselves.
