Pros

Crestron offers a good benefits package, including 4 weeks of PTO in the 2nd year.

Cons

It is said that Crestron is a good place to finish your career, because there are lots of people here content with simply punching in and out. Most new hires realize this and move on within the first 2 years. We have lost a lot of young talent to other companies that actually offer growth and promotion opportunities. Advancement at Crestron is based on who you spend your after hours time with. Managers/Directors at the Rockleigh, New Jersey headquarters are mostly white (male & female), even though there are many experienced leaders from other backgrounds working here. On two occasions, I was walking past the CEO Randy Klein, and he looked away at nothing instead of acknowledging that I greeted him. He is white, and I am not.

Pros

Relaxed. Management understands traditional AV industry is saturated and is trying hard to pivot the company into new direction. Whether it will work or not is to be seen.

Cons

This place really needs to re-evaluate how they hire and retain engineers. Across all disciplines, there are many senior level engineers who have no idea what they are doing. Some lack such basic engineering skills and knowledge which makes one wonder if they had proper higher level education or lied about their past career experiences on their resume. Most of them are genuinely nice people, but they are really dragging down productivity.
