Pros

Generally friendly people, some flexibility in work,

Cons

Like another review earlier for the Auckland RTC location on the surface people are generally nice but there are some characters to put it nicely, characters whose personality make it very difficult to work with. They appear on the outside to be a cool forward thinking tech place but really beneath it is a backwards 1980s corporate culture. I really appreciate the work that one particular manager is doing when it comes to equal opportunity and equity , and that manager has my respect. Another manager I think seems to be a little backward in comparison. The actions of mentioned manager seem to act insidiously and if you pay close attention to outcomes you can draw a line of causality. There’s a clear line between minorities and opportunity versus non minorities. On the other hand, the compensation is well, well below average what’s being offered at other places. The general strategy for RTC seems to be hiring new grads and interns , and you will see a large majority of the long term staff had begun as such. Things change very slowly here and there always seems to be a lot of beauracracy and red tape involved. It’s not a bad place to start your career, but if you have aspirations to grow , you will eventually realise that you will have to leave - and there’s nothing wrong with that. If you are here you will notice the kind of people that stay around long term (4+ years), and that is the vast majority of them. Generally talented and ambitious people take their experience and move on before too long.

Pros

Fantastic management, positive community vibe, everyone was invested in my learning experience and I felt very welcomed

Cons

tough to achieve anything in my time there due to the nature of the industry. Not their fault just the circumstance and they celebrate the smaller victories so I didn't feel discouraged
