Pros
1) We're writing code for self-driving cars -- basically, we're making car-shaped robots more intelligent. If you don't think that's cool, you're probably too boring to work at Cruise anyway. 2) Relatively flat hierarchy so far. If you work here and want to contribute, you can definitely have impact. 3) Generous compensation (at least as compared to "frugal" companies like Amazon). 4) Free food (not unheard of... unless you're stuck at Amazon). 5) Free rides in robot cars.
Cons
Cruise is located in San Francisco and doesn't allow more than minimal telecommuting. This isn't a big deal if you live in SF already, but if you're located in the South Bay, it can be a big commute. Currently Cruise has an experimental shuttle to and from the South Bay, but it can add hours to your workday. As bad as Caltrain is, it's still faster.
