Pros
The branding is amazing. Being that you have to deal with people face to face handling member issues i.e billing, location cleanliness, overall building maintenance, it is a great learning experience for a person, very hands on, allowing instant gratification.
Cons
Though the company has grown into franchises, in many cities, along with their "signature" locations, the corporate office, which is located in New York City, handles everything and is extremely small and very cliquish. You have to be liked in order to keep your job because there is a "glass ceiling" and once you're in a position there's honestly no where to progress. (truthfully, that's the way it is in the fitness industry in general; either you become your own brand, open your own gym or develop your own fitness phenom, to make real money) I was there for many years and saw some employees move up, yet it would be more of a lateral jump, due to boredom, laziness or just being scared in wanting to look outside. I have also witnessed employees that rock the boat and don't comply, voice their opinion or have valid issues with other employees or VP's who then get pushed out of their jobs. Now, I understand business and believe that a company doesn't fire you, you get yourself fired, however, if you fall out of grace for any complaint made to HR, the few people in upper management will make it their duty to bully you, then your work life becomes miserable to the point of either you quit or get fired.
