Pros

Cub is still MN's store. It's the store you've been going to forever. Most employees have been there for 20+ years. I'm the newest in my department and I like my coworkers.

Cons

Cub has seriously gone downhill since Supervalu was bought out by UNFI. UNFI wants to get rid of us but we're losing too much money to be sold. Too many retired in the last 20-30 years and we barely break even with our profits. Hours are okay during summer but you're overworked to the point of wanting to kick the bucket. Hours are cut during cold months to almost nothing and are too inconsistent to find another job. Pandemic made everything worse. Not enough workers in any department. New hires quit after a few weeks/months. Customers complain about everything from prices going up to the fact that we don't have enough cashiers. Managers mostly walk around in groups not doing much except gossiping, micromanaging, and nitpicking. It's rare to actually see one helping on the floor. Especially store managers. Department managers aren't as bad though some like to disappear for no reason and take hour-long breaks. Union doesn't do much. Don't get stuck working here. it'll kill you.

Pros

- busy, engaging job, good for ADHD - union, dictates minimum hrs for part and full time team members, wage and raises, breaks, what mgmt can do in regard to changing your schedule on a whim

Cons

- outdated processes - focused on bottom line over patient care -corporate stingy with hours, management unaware of union contract requirements
