Pros

Cvent does a great job of hiring ambitious and motivated college grads. I’m still very close with my old colleagues. The event industry can be fun with travel opportunities. Cvent’s event planning team always does an awesome job.

Cons

You salary will not be enough to live in the Northern Virginia area. If you live at home, you’ll be okay; otherwise, you’ll be living paycheck to paycheck. You could make more working at a non-profit or as a teacher in Northern Virginia, yet Cvent brags about its path to being a billion dollar company. Most middle managers are micro managers and will breath down your neck at every moment. There are some managers who are great but most managers fall into the category of “Reasons you will be leaving this job” Event planners are sociopaths so prepare for the most frazzled and unprofessional clients you will ever meet. The recruiters lie about as much as the sales team does, so get ready for false expectations from beginning to end. Cvent is treats employees like a revolving door and knows every year that a new batch will be coming.

Pros

Great sales leadership, great sales team, lots of really good sales tools. The Sales teams and AM teams are really outstanding, as is the sales centric culture here. Sales leadership is proactive, sharp, and seems to adapt well.

Cons

Pay and benefits are... poor. In sales they can get away with it b/c the culture is so good but for other things, the company is really just cheap. they lose a lot of talent b/c they leave for average salaries - Cvent is below average. Sales training and enablement is a mess. It's a very reactive team, focused on checking the boxes. They talk a lot about moving fast, iterating... but things are very slow, get bottled up with leadership a lot. Leaders in this group are mixed. When they are focused and listening they can be good, they tend to fight for their people well. But they don't listen a lot, mostly they just push for the answer they wanted from the beginning, and b/c they are trying to go fast, they rarely slow down and look at the big picture. Then when there are bumps in the road or complaints later, they are suprised.
