Pros
Cyracom offers a unique experience where you get to help people on a daily basis. You learn so much. On a typical day you will do at least 30 interpretations over the phone. This can range from medical, financial, legal, 911, anything. Think of any situation in life, and Cyracom for sure will interpret it. It's awesome and such a unique experience. You will learn so much about so many different fields and expand the use of your language. You truly get to provide a voice for people that would not have one without your presence, and that is amazing! I honestly enjoyed this, but it isn't for everyone. It requires A LOT of patience.
Cons
It seems like the organization is run by monkeys. There is little to no respect for the interpreters who are the backbone of Cyracom. All the supervisors on the floor continuously send emails where they treat us like idiots. Every supervisor has conflicting beliefs and too much power amongst the interpreter. In Cyracom you are treated as a replaceable entity, the company does not see you as human being, but another robot that can be substituted. Do not expect to get much time off or many excused absences. The company puts the call over you. You will get punished if you show up a few minutes late when clocking or from break. The company only wants you on the phone. You get monitored randomly during calls and NIs (need improvements) are given to bad calls. After a certain amount NIs the company can let you go, and trust me, they are given for the stupidest reasons.
