Pros
Free coffee, cake, location, fellow interpreters. The only people I would recommend to apply here are people who want to get into the interpretation field but have no prior experience. That is it.
Cons
Almost everything. The company DOES NOT care about you. I cannot stress that enough. You are treated as a robot and are expected to know everything. You do not get enough training about anything, especially financial calls, yet they nitpick every little detail of every call. The only reason I would recommend anyone to work there is if they studied interpretation studies in college like me and they need some practice and experience in the field. That is it. But for any regular person who happens to be bilingual, this job's expectations are ridiculous. Your lunches are not paid for, your breaks are extremely limited and especially your bathroom breaks. They give you a maximum of 2 hours per month as "personal time" that add up extremely quickly (even if you know you didn't use all of it, supervisors will argue otherwise) and that is the only time given to you for bathroom breaks. If you go over 1 minute, they give you a corrective. And that is the reason they dismissed me from work. It was not attendance, quality of work, etc. No, it was because I'm human and needed to attend to ppersoanl care. Also, half the people above you know nothing about interpretation. They hire anyone as supervisor as long as you're a friend. They want you to interpret word for word when that is the contrary of what interpreters should do.
