Pros

The atmosphere for the most part is one that encourages friendliness. There are several convenient amenities on the Regional campus like a nice cafeteria, a Walgreens, and Jerry's cleaners.

Cons

To many employees lack ownership and the drive to succeed, at DCH. The most common phrase used is "I don't have time to do that." Being the only hospital in this area, there is no competition as far as talent and compensation. Most salaries are significantly below national average and some are a great deal above the national average (could it be that the compensation staff "doesn't have time" to keep up with the national average?). Don't expect to move up if you've been with the system a while, common practice is look outside instead of growing the staff they have (lack of confidence). The system is also lacking innovation in many areas (e.g., technology, culture, facilities, etc.), but those could be attributes of the time issue.

Pros

To be honest there isn’t many pros about this place. The best thing is probably the few coworkers I like and maybe the night shift differential

Cons

They do not care about safe staffing at all. We have lost almost 20 employees just on nights since our new manager took over and they say our productivity isn’t enough to hire. Yet we have 7 nurses on night shift and they refuse to pull from days. The pay isn’t enough to live off of which is part of why I can’t leave right now. They do nothing to take up for us and would rather take the doctors side than speak up. They turn a blind eye to nurses who literally endanger patients but yet will give us a coaching for the wrong shoes.
