Pros

My unit manager was fantastic and so were the RNs I worked with on the unit.

Cons

I would like to provide feedback regarding the individual currently overseeing the Nurse Extern program. Unfortunately, my experience has been marked by a consistent lack of communication, professionalism, and effective management from this person. Attempts to reach her via phone have been unsuccessful, as she does not answer calls and instead responds via text, often several days later. This significantly hinders timely communication and affects the overall efficiency of the program. As someone in a leadership position, it is essential that she be accessible and responsive, especially in a role that involves mentoring and supporting developing nurses. Additionally, the tone and professionalism in her interactions do not reflect the standards expected of someone in her position. I believe this not only affects morale but also sets a poor example for those of us looking to grow within the organization. I hope she can receive the necessary guidance and training to improve these skills. Strong, respectful communication and reliable leadership are critical to the success of the Nurse Extern program, and I believe improvements in this area will benefit both staff and patient care outcomes.

Pros

To be honest there isn’t many pros about this place. The best thing is probably the few coworkers I like and maybe the night shift differential

Cons

They do not care about safe staffing at all. We have lost almost 20 employees just on nights since our new manager took over and they say our productivity isn’t enough to hire. Yet we have 7 nurses on night shift and they refuse to pull from days. The pay isn’t enough to live off of which is part of why I can’t leave right now. They do nothing to take up for us and would rather take the doctors side than speak up. They turn a blind eye to nurses who literally endanger patients but yet will give us a coaching for the wrong shoes.
