Do not take this job if offered! - Administrative Assistant DHL Supply Chain Employee Review

Pros

Company is not going out of business any time soon because it's so huge.

Cons

If you are offered the Administrative Assistant job at an Exel location, it may be one of the biggest mistake of your career. You will have the lowest pay (by quite a bit!) of any other salaried person and your actual job duties will not match your "role profile" in any way, shape or form. Your role profile is 1 page of secretarial work. This is NOT something you want to put on your resume. In reality, for your itty bitty salary, you will be responsible for ALL payroll, HR, hiring, orientation, employee concerns and issues, purchasing, account, end of month including customer invoices, AP, journal entries, debit/credit memos and fielding hostile communications from corporate. And yes, with the exception of payroll, the corporate headquarters is just about the most unhelpful, hostile group of people I've ever dealt with. You will never be able to contact an individual person to answer a question or to get help-you are required to send an email to a general email address. Exel also has an amazingly antiquated accounting/data reporting system that is NOT consolidated. They have 7 or 8 completely different software programs that feed into various other software programs so when you are doing this accounting, you can never tell when anything you put in will actually show up. Save yourself from agony-you will not be respected in this position as it makes you look like a secretary when you are really an acting "controller".

Pros

Steady full-time work, decent pay, and several years of warehouse and order-selection experience.

Cons

During my years at this facility, I experienced ongoing workplace problems that I believed included harassment, discrimination, and unfair treatment. I reported serious concerns to management and human resources, but I did not believe they were handled properly or consistently. Near the end of my employment, I was told not to clock in after giving notice and dealing with approved medical and leave-related issues. I have pursued formal legal remedies concerning my treatment.
