Pros

The time from applying to interview to getting hired was very quick (less than two weeks in total). Excellent considering it took my wife almost 2 months to start a job at Petsmart after applying. You learn a lot on the job and the shifts usually go by quickly. Colleagues are very friendly and generally speaking all departments help each other out.

Cons

They often cut back hours because of 'cost-saving measures'. The hours are all over the place. I can work Monday until 11pm, then be expected to work Tuesday at 8am until mid-afternoon and then start Wednesday at 2am. Managers need to be quicker in training you. A lot of my 'learning' was me working things out as I went along, which is fine. Just don't then act all surprised that I don't know how to restring a tennis racket because you still haven't taken the time to train me. As a golf sales associate, I think it is a must that employees are able to try out new golf equipment (especially clubs) for themselves. Funnily enough, I don't have access to these expensive new clubs at home and I shouldn't have to pay to rent the simulator for an hour to try them out. It's quite embarrassing when customers ask for your own opinion on a club (which happens a lot) and you either have to make something up or admit you haven't tried it. I'm part-time and hence don't get benefits, but from what I've read and heard about the medical benefits they offer to full-time employees, they aren't at all comprehensive. As someone with a pre-existing medical condition, this is potentially a real worry and one of the reasons why I'm constantly looking for other jobs. The pay is OK for retail, but I still have to rely a lot on family support, and even if I was working full-time hours I would be living pay-check to pay-check at best.

Corporate is 10/10. At a large company, every department is different but they value their customers and employees and offer great benefits. Rewarding to work there

Cons

Not much to say. Best employer I’ve had
