Pros

The company sells sports, so most of the customers will be passionate about the products Dicks carries. The discount is also good, however most of the good items (guns and golf) are excluded in most discount, coupon, and kickback. Bonus structure is good as long as you make all your metrics.

Cons

As a company, they are about 5-10 years behind the industry with any logistical or operational process. The replenishment process is not adequate to support stores who who exceed $10-$20mil. The company leaves a lot of money on the table by not being able to efficiently manage logistics. Sales floor associates are completing double work because of an inconsistent planogram/replenishment that is not currently working. Communication is a disaster. There is far too much direction from corporate pulling the management in 10 different directions. There needs to be little change and a clear cut policy/procedure when change is necessary. Stores need an HR manager. Way too many issues in every store I've been a part of. Implement shelve label strips and location systems. Back room needs location systems as well

Pros

- Unlimited PTO with 401k match is awesome

Cons

- Performance expectations were often unclear or inconsistently communicated, Feedback was reactive instead of timely and actionable. - Leadership quality varied dramatically by manager, with limited coaching or mentorship. - Constant shifting priorities without adjusting expectations or workload. - Psychological safety was lacking, Honest communication feel risky. - Leadership messaging around culture didn't match day-to-day reality. - Process was often valued more than impact or results. - Compensation well below market, w/little flexibility during negotiations. - I felt excluded from key conversations and opportunities that were important to my success.
