Pros

Only pro I can think of is discount- customers are also super friendly, which makes it bearable to work.

Cons

The store I work at is super cliquey- I am relatively new (two months) and never encountered such unpleasant work conditions at a job in which seemed like the dream to counteract with my full time job. Unfortunately after this holiday season I will be quitting. I have a hearing impairment and not only am I getting shut out of conversations from coworkers, but management as well. They have no disability instruments for radios, so I often have a tough time with anything radio related since sometimes I cannot hear. Often also left doing the grunt work of closing the store while the closing manager on duty talks up a storm with the other apparel associates on shift- aware that I am straightening apparel myself on more than three occasions. Although all cons mentioned above besides disability tools for the hearing impaired are store related and not an overall fault of Dicks- but one value that led me to apply here was that you prided yourself on inclusivity and diversity- don’t know if I’m the first hearing impaired associate at Dick’s but until there are some support tools set in place, I wouldn’t encourage anyone else who had a disability to apply here.

Pros

- Unlimited PTO with 401k match is awesome

Cons

- Performance expectations were often unclear or inconsistently communicated, Feedback was reactive instead of timely and actionable. - Leadership quality varied dramatically by manager, with limited coaching or mentorship. - Constant shifting priorities without adjusting expectations or workload. - Psychological safety was lacking, Honest communication feel risky. - Leadership messaging around culture didn't match day-to-day reality. - Process was often valued more than impact or results. - Compensation well below market, w/little flexibility during negotiations. - I felt excluded from key conversations and opportunities that were important to my success.
