Pros

This is my second job and I have been working here for over 10 years as a software engineer. Reasons why I like working at DIS: 1) Flexible work environment 2) Great co-workers 3) Management promotes employees taking the initiative in proposing ideas for solutions 4) Management and team leads very open to changing processes 5) Family oriented The most impressive thing about DIS is that over 50% of the employees have been working at DIS for 25 years. If that doesn't say a lot about a company then I do not know what would.

Cons

Sometimes change can take a while to implement in regards to development process but changes do occur.

All the employee's I know are dedicated to creating quality software and providing excellent support to our customers and each other.

Cons

The basement kitchen is closed due to Covid-19 and we all have to work from home.

Pros

Lots of families, work-life balance is great. There are a lot of employees who have worked at DIS for over 20 years, which says something about the loyalty and the interesting nature of the business. You get to work in tech in Bellingham, one of the most beautiful places on Earth, a small university city between Seattle and Vancouver, BC. Flat organization requires personal initiation - you can learn a lot but you have to be self-disciplined and have a personality that enjoys learning and taking on new challenges. The kitchen is beautiful and is fully stocked - for some this was the deciding factor in joining DIS.

Cons

This is a very flat organization, and while great for wearing multiple hats, at a certain point there is not a lot of room for career advancement. Compensation is salary + benefits, there are no bonuses or stock options (rather they offer 25% 401K matching).
