Pros

Professional, and yet simultaneously free-form development like that found only in much larger companies such as Google. Both times that I have worked at DIS as a full-time-employee (and also twice as a contractor) I have felt "a part of something" and not "just a cog". I have always received generous and supportive feedback that has encouraged and taught me to do even better than when on my own. This is, in fact, one of the main reasons that I have come back to the old family again. That and the leadership truly are some of the best people I know.

Cons

Lots of change in the last year. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, it just can be disruptive at times. Other times it actually helps to break out of old cycles into something new and potentially beter.

Pros

All the employee's I know are dedicated to creating quality software and providing excellent support to our customers and each other.

Cons

The basement kitchen is closed due to Covid-19 and we all have to work from home.

Pros

Lots of families, work-life balance is great. There are a lot of employees who have worked at DIS for over 20 years, which says something about the loyalty and the interesting nature of the business. You get to work in tech in Bellingham, one of the most beautiful places on Earth, a small university city between Seattle and Vancouver, BC. Flat organization requires personal initiation - you can learn a lot but you have to be self-disciplined and have a personality that enjoys learning and taking on new challenges. The kitchen is beautiful and is fully stocked - for some this was the deciding factor in joining DIS.

Cons

This is a very flat organization, and while great for wearing multiple hats, at a certain point there is not a lot of room for career advancement. Compensation is salary + benefits, there are no bonuses or stock options (rather they offer 25% 401K matching).
