Pros

Some of your coworkers can really become your best friends. Unfortunately part of that is bonding over the difficulty of making it through the week. There are at least attempts at doing some fun things like pie day or other small events.

Cons

n the time I have worked here, there has been a lot of change. Unfortunately, it hasn't been managed well. Employees are left behind and the only reason they matter at this point is to keep turnover from getting worse and hurting the bottom line. Benefits have been cut over time. The most obvious is health insurance -premiums are low, but there is literally 0 coverage until you meet a high deductible. For most people who do not max out their deductible with frequent medical care, this results in much higher medical costs. People are let go or unexpectedly "leave the organization" frequently, and there is no transparency about the never ending rotation, leaving many employees wondering if they're next. Employees are unhappy, and this is not an environment that is interested in improving. You are lucky if you have the chance to air your concerns, and even then they are usually brushed off. There are a lot of loyal employees here that care about seeing the employee culture improve again, and management does not want to hear it. They just want to keep pushing the bottom line down day in and day out, and they don't go to their employees for feedback or listen when it is given. Compensation was recently adjusted but at least in technical support, it is still not competitive for the level of support that we provide. If you want to get your foot in the door, this could be a good first tech support job. But if you want to stay somewhere long term without being pushed to burnout in a tense and negative environment, then this will not be a good choice long term. Hopefully eventually the people who really care about a good employee culture, will get in front of the right decision-makers. A good environment will produce better work, and executive management here seems stuck on a more old-fashioned model of worker-bee productivity as well as being distracted by anything that will "drive value" besides the humans doing the valuable work.

Thank you for taking the time to write this as we are constantly looking for ways to improve our culture. It is disappointing to see comments like those listed, but I value your honest insight. DRB has over doubled in size over the last few years. Many companies experience growing pains when managing significant growth like we have had. I recognize that change can be uncomfortable. However, while the size and structure of our company has changed greatly over the past few years, our core values have not. We have worked hard to maintain our fun and collaborative culture. We recognize that we experienced issues in the past with communicating our new health package to employees. We recently changed benefit advisors and added a senior benefit specialist to our team to increase our support and communication regarding our benefits package. If you care to elaborate on any of this information, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly. My door is usually open when I am in town. Thank you Dan

Pros

Great entry point into tech and a good place to develop technical troubleshooting and customer service skills. Benefits were relatively affordable compared to other companies I've worked for. Opportunities to work with multiple departments and gain exposure to different areas of the business. Ability to build relationships with customers and develop professional networking opportunities. Worked with many great coworkers who made the day-to-day experience enjoyable. Overtime opportunities were generally available for those who wanted them. Work from home opportunities.

Cons

Career paths to move up and out of the call center were definitely becoming more limited towards the end of my time there. When starting out, you quickly learn through trial and error who is willing to help you grow and who would rather make you feel bad for asking questions. There were some great supervisors to work with, but management quality could vary quite a bit. If one of the less helpful supervisors was the person you needed assistance from that day, you knew it was probably going to be a long shift. Communication between departments could be improved. Issues were sometimes transferred from higher up departments without sufficient ownership, creating additional work and frustration for frontline employees. Senior leadership seemed more focused on call metrics than the quality and complexity of troubleshooting required to resolve customer issues effectively. The overall work environment has gradually shifted toward a more corporate culture over time, compared to when I first started.
