Pros
As in most companies, DTE Energy Services has many talented, dedicated people working hard to achieve business objectives. Continuous improvement is emphasized and actual improvement in performance can be seen over time in many areas. The business takes on significant challenges with great potential for successful outcomes.
Cons
The geographical dispersion of the non-regulated fleet creates difficulties in upper management (in the corporate office) having a true understanding of the reality of business in the plants. This leads, far too often, to micro-management from Ann Arbor, evaluation of plant leadership by rumor, and a tendency for a small vocal minority to inflict great harm upon the best performers. I have seen some of the most talented people I have ever worked with forced out by false rumors, or departing by their own choice due to the frustration with micro-management from afar.
