Pros
I worked with an amazing team and had access to high-ranking leaders who were quite down to earth. Everyone at DaVita is very friendly and caring and it truly feels like a family. I can’t speak for all teams but I was able to advocate for myself on a number of occasions as I had a very supportive supervisor.
Cons
The company relies on this niche of “being special”, but I’m unsure if they realize many companies believe that to be true of themselves. While there is a family-like culture, like all families, there is favoritism and the company culture rewards overwork which can result in burnout. There is also a bad habit of constantly promoting leaders who have no leadership or supervisory skills and simply provide results - to say I was unimpressed with many mid-level leaders is an understatement. In my time, observed an environment that did not allow for a healthy work/life balance. Many times I witnessed dedicated parents who worked hard during their work hours but clocked out at 5pm get passed over for promotions (or take longer) than those without families who worked until all hours of the night; across several teams.
