Pros
The job of a dialysis tech is very rewarding. There is a lot to learn, which is satisfying. You will take care of people and have an impact on their lives. You will learn a lot about bodies, and will work alongside nurses who a can teach you more if they are open to that. It's a team environment and it feels great to work together to take care of people.
Cons
The days are long and the pay is low. You will want to take the best care of your patients, but the company's goal is making money. Sometimes those 2 things don't line up. The job is very physical - you need to be in good shape. You also need to be comfortable with technology. You'll be expected to understand how the machines work and trouble shoot if they malfunction, and there is a lot of documentation in computers. If you're a slow typer or are intimidated by computers it will be hard to keep up the pace.
