Pros

Good, down to earth people, a real sense of ownership on projects and the real need of quality people on international programs gives a great opportunity to make an impact if you are ambitious.

Cons

It is the auto industry. Low tech products for the most part, a great percentage of quality problems arose from untrained or careless people on a local level. Low pay for most jobs ensure that unqualified people or unambitious people will keep turnover high. Quite frustrating on longer term projects. Very entrenched way to do things, with little opportunity to innovate.

Pros

Hard to be fired, good benefits, double time Sundays.

Cons

No room to grow. Pay scale is a tier system based on a union contract that we negotiate every 3-5 years and the raises are never more than a dollar or two. They offer apprenticeships that you only get if you are related to someone and have some kind of friend up front. Qualifications mean nothing you learn more you do more and get paid less than then the tier 1 employees which makes the newer highers also not want to work so you will be in limbo working harder for nothing.
