Pros
- The software literally revolutionized how I do data science - I hate the term "10X," but here it's justified; in response to that, many others, including the largest tech companies in the world, are trying to copy us, and that is flattering - I have never worked with people who are simultaneously this smart and this nice; people are incredibly competent and incredibly supportive - Pay is excellent; benefits are good - Sufficient company holidays to force even those of us who are bad at PTO to take some time off - New technocratic CEO is amaaaaaazing! - Strong culture of transparency; look through our Glassdoor reviews and see how many "Anonymous Employee" comments we have, relative to our competitors, and you'll get a sense of what our company meetings are like
Cons
- The last year of our existence was an episode of Silicon Valley and those are way more fun to watch than to live through - That culture of transparency means that when someone's irritated, they will definitely let you and everyone else know about it - ultimately that's for the best, it keeps things from festering, but you gotta brace yourself - ML is fairly new and the way we approach ML is fairly new, and it's hard to educate people on one new thing wrapped in another new thing - Diversity is still a lot weaker than I would like to see, but the company and specific leaders in the company are being intentional about improving that; women in particular are relatively well represented, particularly in positions of power (and not just the usual two positions of power reserved for women)
