It all about the money and margins, for them - Manager David Weekley Homes Employee Review

Pros

Free coffee and free cups of water (not water bottles, you get a cup for water)

Cons

It wasnt the bag of goods that I was sold. Read the other reviews on here, all of these people are not wrong, especially the koolaide drinker review, it is spot on. Another example is the Hawaii trip, they fail to tell you they cancelled every company event for about 18 months to pay for it, including the Christmas party. And used it as an excuse to be as cheap as possible, then write it off as a cooperate event, you know since you had mandatory training in HI. They make all of these promises on the front end, only to slowly widdle them away, which is a bit concerning for a company that wears it Christianity so proudly. Basically everything that you are told comes with very very fine print, they dont tell you about, and you get to figure it out on your own. Every, decision is based upon money. They are a margin builder, and make great margins, but they will throw anyone under the bus for a better margin. From a PM on up to an area president, it is all about beating budgets for them, so dont get in between anyone and a buck (or a survey) or you will get run over. They tell you about how they are growing, to a $5 billion company, but leave out about how you as an employee get to grow (hint: you dont). They are growing by expanding into new markets, not increasing the market share in the current markets. It is really only Davids bank account and his real estate holdings that grow. If you are 55+, have no ambition in life, want to relive high school cliques, like cake parties and micromanagement, like dressing up for monthly skits, and live in an apartment in the suburbs, this is the company for you.

Pros

amazing culture, and you're usually treated like a business owner thats not micromanaged. I got the job when I was in my early 20s, and they trusted me with alot and let me fail and learn. profit sharing is great when you get it, but recently the housing market has been horrible so nobody is getting it. My PM is great and he makes sure I know that he's on my side. Training is great too - they make sure everyone is ot only up to date on new building knowledge, but they constantly invest in our knowledge base so we are all performing at our best. Upper management is also amazing. they are not on their high horse and unapproachable, and they genuinely care about their team.

Cons

You've heard it a thousand times on this page. The pay sucks, at least when compared to other builders. I'm single with no big payments or dependants, so I'm fine for now. However, I've heard other builders with different companies getting paid literally twice as much as me even with my bonuses, and I'm one of the top builders in the city when it comes to build time. Your satisfaction level also depends on the PM you have - mine is great, but others are heavy micromanagers that don't let you do a thing without their approval. They also put a massive emphasis on surveys, and there is zero tolerance for even irrational buyers. They say "that's why our goal is 90%", but that mentality is unfortunately not put into practice.
