Pros

Decent benefits, health insurance and 401k,

Cons

I’m glad I finally woke up and found a job that pays better. David Weekley is known to pay really low salaries but while you’re there you’re told how great it is to work for them because of the so called “culture”. Guess what, culture doesn’t pay the bills!! I can’t believe the people who work there year after year with no self-confidence for less than industry pay AND very low raises. Meanwhile, all the good old boys are making the money that you never will. You seriously will have to leave the company to get a decent raise. Also, the interviewing process is so outdated. They’re using the same technique companies used in the early 80’s and it didn’t work back then. They’ll waste your time with 3-6 interviews and then want to go to your home – so weird. I’ve interviewed and hired many people throughout my career and I never had to call a candidate in 3-6 times. How many excuses can someone make at their current job to go interview with them?

Pros

amazing culture, and you're usually treated like a business owner thats not micromanaged. I got the job when I was in my early 20s, and they trusted me with alot and let me fail and learn. profit sharing is great when you get it, but recently the housing market has been horrible so nobody is getting it. My PM is great and he makes sure I know that he's on my side. Training is great too - they make sure everyone is ot only up to date on new building knowledge, but they constantly invest in our knowledge base so we are all performing at our best. Upper management is also amazing. they are not on their high horse and unapproachable, and they genuinely care about their team.

Cons

You've heard it a thousand times on this page. The pay sucks, at least when compared to other builders. I'm single with no big payments or dependants, so I'm fine for now. However, I've heard other builders with different companies getting paid literally twice as much as me even with my bonuses, and I'm one of the top builders in the city when it comes to build time. Your satisfaction level also depends on the PM you have - mine is great, but others are heavy micromanagers that don't let you do a thing without their approval. They also put a massive emphasis on surveys, and there is zero tolerance for even irrational buyers. They say "that's why our goal is 90%", but that mentality is unfortunately not put into practice.
