Pros

-Easy work and not much of it -Good work/life balance -Company cares about employee safety -Trying to get more diverse -To recruit people they engage in "title inflation." If you can handle the negatives for a couple years, it could be a nice boost when looking for your next job.

Cons

It's a tough place to work. There is no excitement or energy in the Philly HQ. The office is in a rough part of town and inside it's dark and depressing. The owners seem more concerned with preserving their wealth than trying to grow the company. Very boring and static place to work. Year after year nothing ever changes. There is never anything new and fresh to keep people engaged. Workforce is old. I think the younger generation wouldn't last 6 months here. There is never any team buildings or spontaneous happy hours after work. No team spirit. A good place if you just like to be completely left alone in your cube and fill in your spreadsheets all day but for most it is excruciatingly boring. Business has also been down for a few years, which makes it even more depressing around the office. Morale is at all time low. It's hard to imagine that for so many years the company was a major industrial force that helped build this country. That's what happens when the world changes but you don't. If it wasn't family owned there would've been complete leadership changes at the top a long time ago. Everyone there under age 55 spends much of their day looking for a new job to escape. When someone gets a new job outside the company, everyone gets very jealous. Oh and the benefits stink and are expensive!

Thanks for your comments. Safety and diversity are two of our key values, but we also put a high value on success, and on growing the business. We've acquired several new businesses in the past year alone, and continue to develop growth opportunities both organically and through jv's and acquisitions. D&Z is located in the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia, and judging by the amount of new construction going on around our headquarters, it's a pretty dynamic part of town. Our offices are in an older building, yes, but it was completely refurbished less than 10 years ago, and it's a really nice place to work. After hour social activities vary by department, but definitely occur pretty often. Sorry it wasn't for you, and best of luck.

Pros

Day & Zimmermann is a company where people can build long-term, meaningful careers. As a family owned business with more than a century of history, there is a level of stability, purpose, and long-term thinking that is not easy to find in today’s job market. What stands out most to me is the company’s investment in its people. Day & Zimmermann has one of the strongest organizational training and development programs I have seen. The in house Learning & Development team is outstanding, and the company continues to invest in resources that help employees grow, lead, and succeed. There is also a real sense of pride in the work. Across the organization, employees support critical industries, customers, and missions, and that creates a strong connection to purpose. The people here care about doing good work, supporting one another, and representing the company well. For those considering Day & Zimmermann, I would say this is a place where you can find stability, opportunity, development, and a company that genuinely cares about its employees. If you are looking for an organization where you can contribute, grow, and be part of something with a strong foundation, Day & Zimmermann is worth serious consideration.

Cons

Like many established companies, there are areas where processes, systems, and tools can continue to evolve. The company is complex, and experiences can vary by business unit, location, and team but I really don't have a bunch of cons to list, I love it here.
