Pros

Free food during games, pay seems ok until you realize how much work is required.

Cons

I've been told this is the absolute worst Delaware North location. Nobody here knows what they are doing, so there is no training. They give people a set of keys and a badge and expect them to figure it out on their own. When I told the assistant GM that I felt lost and confused and overwhelmed and unable to help or contribute, he said "Good, that's how it's supposed to feel". They conveniently left out of my interview that this would require 14 days of work in a row, and 65+ hour work weeks. When I did the math, I was barely making minimum wage with how many hours I was working. Meetings and special events would pop up with a days notice and if I wasn't able to be there, I would be told that I need to anticipate this type of schedule. From day one everyone was gossiping about each other, including managers undermining other managers. There's no clear chain of command, so I was constantly being given conflicting directions. At my interview, I was transparent that I had some dates that I needed off due to commitments I had made prior to being hired, including plane tickets out of town that were already purchased. I was told this would be fine as long as I told them the dates immediately upon hiring. Over half the dates were denied due to them being blackout dates, which I was never informed of. I tried to work with the managers numerous times to find some sort of workable solution. When I told them I was going to have to resign if we couldn't come to an agreement on a consistent schedule, they told me they had a new position the company was going to be creating soon that would allow for a more consistent schedule. A couple days later, they quickly went back on this and said it was not a new position but "re-defining my duties as assistant concessions manager". The whole thing reeked of red flags, like they were trying to continue to bait me into staying to ultimately continue to take advantage of my time. I truly do not know how anyone working there is able to have a family or a life outside of work. I have never left a job so quickly, and it is very out of character for me to leave a job before having another lined up and without giving two-week notice. However, this place is so chaotic and toxic that I had to leave ASAP. When I went in to turn in my stuff to the GM, she was extremely rude and passive aggressive, which just affirmed that I had absolutely made the correct decision in leaving. All of this to say, there is a reason this job has been posted for a long time. And while the $50,000 they are offering may look like decent money, in reality you'll be making minimum wage and having no life outside of work. Just not worth it.

Pros

Good first exposure to client facing roles if no prior exposure. Good for learning to balance technical execution with advisory duties. Good for hands-on experience/learning CRM tools you may not have had prior experience with. Decent benefits. Opportunities to create your own “fun” side projects if you have enough drive to do so.

Cons

Long hours, frequent after-hours/on-call work, including weekends and holidays. Lack of clearly defined process/constantly changing process, making onboarding new hires challenging or educating other departments more difficult. Frequently pivoting business decisions, causing further hiccups in process. Lack of communication. Lack of upward career mobility. Base pay is relatively low. While there are opportunities for raises, chances of promotion are very rare. High stress, high turnover environment that causes scrambling to fill in gaps of lost productivity, causing more pivoting business decisions and revisions of process.
