Pros
I worked with many talented, supportive individual contributors during my more than four years at the company. There was strong camaraderie among colleagues, and I had opportunities to grow, take on meaningful work, and earn a promotion.
Cons
My confidence in senior leadership deteriorated substantially near the end of my tenure.
After I submitted my resignation, a vice president in my reporting chain told me that if I did not respond within one hour, she would fire me. Because I had already resigned voluntarily after more than four years with the company, I found the threat unnecessary, intimidating, and deeply unprofessional.
At a company event, I also personally heard another senior leader make derogatory remarks about an entire racial or ethnic group in front of multiple colleagues. Conduct like this is especially concerning when it comes from people in senior positions.
More broadly, I experienced and witnessed bullying and intimidating management behavior, frequently shifting priorities, unclear ownership, and leadership decisions that made effective collaboration more difficult. The individual contributors were often excellent; the primary problems were leadership conduct, accountability, and direction.
