Our 401K match is 1%, however, we do offer higher compensation than most retail employers. Most financial experts recommend a diversified investment portfolio so this allows you to invest your money as you see fit. As far as the medical insurance, you are correct in that the benefits kick in once you have met your deductible, which is normal for medical insurance. The major benefit we offer is, once your deductible is met, there are no out of pocket expenses for the rest of the year. Many of our employees or someone in their family has had extensive medical procedures and were only out of pocket the deductible.
