Pros

Helping children and families in the community Opportunity to positive impact on children Multiple formal and informal personal and professional opportunities for growth

Cons

• Minimal support/resources (insufficient funding coinciding with unreasonable & unattainable expectations) • Pervasive poor communication • Scapegoating • Immature leadership (Unwillingness to listen to others, Lack of empathy and support, Poor communication, intimidation or bullying - instilling fear in others, micromanagement, Hypocritical - most principals, supervisors, district office don't walk the talk, they spout the message "teamwork," "good communication," "trust," "support", "work-life balance" but behave and communicate in ways that contradict this ideal) • Bureaucratic nightmare • Cliquishness • Favoritism • Insincere communication • Back-biting and pitting coworkers against each other • Criticizing others before asking questions • Hypocritical • Widespread personal agendas • Overly concerned with procedure at the expense of efficiency and common sense Resulting in: • loss of extremely talented, knowledgeable, and experienced employees • higher than average medical leaves of absence and sick days • beat-down educators This ultimately impacts children and families in the Denver community.
