Pros
Good benefits health, stock matching, bonus & yearly stock awards. Nice private offices with great view of the city. Nice people. Great pay. Good healthy restaurant on site. Devon takes care of their people who are laid off with good severance & retirement agreements. Employees are not monitored to ensure they work their 40 hrs (but employees achieve this on their own). Employees not pushed to work >40 hrs but understand in rare cases it is needed to get work done and do so without supervisor prompting.
Cons
Poor communication. Some management underhanded political maneuvering. People work often without knowing what they are trying to achieve, i.e., no requirements or definition of success resulting in a “let’s see if it creates something useful” perspective. IT has their hands in too much of the business thus driving business decisions instead of enabling them.
