Pros
Great environment, philosophy of customer service compared to other large department stores, beautiful merchandise and well-stocked, nice atmosphere, accessibility to management. If you have the desire and drive, Dillard's believes in advancement, and you can do well. If you just want to go in to work part-time and are not committed, you will just stay stagnant. The Dillard's brands are very well-received by customers and quite popular. Dillard's carries brands that are exclusive to Dillard's at various price points, and I think they do a fabulous job in this area. Management is very responsive to requests for flexible schedules.
Cons
minimal benefits, buyers could do a better job looking at the different markets. All retail is more physically grueling than, say, an office job. Also, retail in general has nights and weekends, and mandatory holiday schedules. This, of course, is to be expected and part of the job, but it's difficult to work around the holidays.
