Pros

25% Discount + Additional discount days on overpriced merch.

Cons

Everything else. Complicated pay scale. They tell you they will raise your pay if you reach a certain SPH. But then when you approach them about getting a raise they won't give it to you. Expectations on sales goals are ridiculous. They're quick to cut your pay but slow to give you a raise. If you have a family. Especially if you have kids this is definitely not the job for you. If your children get sick or you have to take them to the doctor they will Mark you as an unexcused absence. if you call in sick will call you a few hours later to see if you're feeling better and try to make you come in. if something is wrong with your kids they'll tell you to make other arrangements and have someone else other than you keep your kid so that you can come in. If you're a business manager you're not allowed to have two consecutive days off unless it's your weekend off which is only a Saturday and Sunday. So good luck trying to have any type of life work balance because your off days might be Monday and Wednesday. Or you might not even get to off days which happens regularly. They'll give you a Six-Day work week but the way that balances out is you might work Tuesday through Saturday of one week and then that following week work Sunday through Wednesday and not be off until Thursday so you practically worked almost 10 days straight. They allow racist store management to keep their positions. They allow upper management to treat the Associates in any kind of way. they'll force you to follow customers that they THINK are stealing and then put the blame on you if the customer contacts corporate. Do yourself a favor and stay far far away from Dillards

Pros

Only pro is that you can expect there won't be any. So, transparency.

Cons

Annual raises for salaried employees are minimal, often only 100–500 dollars per year, regardless of performance or inflation. Salaried roles are consistently compensated below industry standards for comparable positions. Management routinely solicits employee input and feedback, then consistently ignores it, making requests for opinions feel performative rather than genuine. Excessive favoritism is openly displayed, accompanied by constant gossip, drama, and office politics that undermine professionalism and team cohesion. Leadership culture normalizes poor treatment by implying that if everyone is miserable together, the situation is acceptable. The company shows little concern for employee health and safety, pressuring staff to work in unsafe conditions because “it was done before.” Employees who raise workplace health concerns or request alternate work arrangements for health reasons are consistently penalized rather than supported, effectively forcing them to choose between their health and their job. The building was shot at, and management waited several hours to inform employees and refused to let anyone go home, demonstrating a disregard for basic safety and crisis response expectations. Any non-vacation time off, including sick time, medical appointments, and other approved leave, can be held against employees and negatively affect promotions, raises, and recognition. Promotions and raises are often denied based on incomplete or misleading assessments of performance, while significant individual contributions and permanent fixes to long-standing issues go unrecognized. External or third-party training and professional development are not supported and, in some cases, are actively discouraged. Execs are only concerned about profits and never employee well being, morale, or happiness.
