Pros

I was a beauty advisor at Dillard’s and I really enjoyed the selling aspect of the job, the customers are great and loyal, it’s extremely easy to build a stable clientele list in your first few months if you put in the effort. A big of pressure with AUS goals and pre-selling but it helps you meet your clients. and personally, i worked with some of the most wonderful women i’ve met and they made my experience a lot better than others, but not everyone is so lucky.

Cons

Commission is on limited brands for limited amounts of time (usually not more than a month) and your hiring manager will lie to you about this and tell you how much you could make in a weeks worth of commission, it is all a lie and i’m not sure how they get away with it. there’s is absolutely no training or supervision. the management is screwed up, they will lie to you to get their ways; advice to you is to google the information you need before speaking to a manager about so you can catch them when they try to lie to you. they put a lot of pressure on you but you’ll be able to handle it if you’re strong enough. literally no growth in the company, even though they say there is so much. no real or good benefits, no paid time off ( they say there is ).

Pros

I gained good customer service and problem solving experience while working here. You learn how to multitask under pressure. I also gained experience gift wrapping(I found out I enjoy this part of the job a lot), shipping orders, and overall in store functions. I met many supportive and enjoyable coworkers while working here as well as memorable customers.

Cons

The main Cons of working here were: -Chronic understaffing -Too many responsibilities expected from one associate -Feeling unsupported by main management - Hard work and extra effort often goes unrecognized - High stress due to unrealistic workload expectations - Limited opportunities for actual feedback to management to actually improve
