Pros
Occasionally a relaxed attitude but this is not consistent across stores much less individual managers. Raises can occasionally be generous.
Cons
Management is only worried about the bottom line. When calling in sick you are guilt tripped occasionally like you're child telling your parents you can't go to school. Rules are not enforced evenly across the board within a store, managers routinely play favorites, gossip about associates (sometimes to other associates). Communication between management (both middle and upper) is non-existent. At personal Dillards, several associates have been allowed to continue working despite being drunk on the job. Frisking underage customers when thought to be stealing (incorrectly so). Gaslighting, verbally abusing, lying about what managers have said behind other associates back. And calling fellow employee a racial slur several times. The latter example, an assistant store manager, and both senior store managers were made aware of, and told said employee they could do nothing about it. I was told my first day that Dillards is like a highschool, and that is entirely too accurate.
