Pros

Benefits were good; health insurance, vision, dental, 401(k), free bagels in the morning, free coffee & cocoa all day/night, 25-cent sodas. Doing work for some of your favorite musicians is always a plus.

Cons

Optical media is in its twilight, cutbacks and layoffs are commonplace. Employee morale is nothing like it used to be.

Disc Makers Response

Optical media is indeed a mature product, and as such we have been adjusting as a company for the past decade. We have an exciting growth brand in BookBaby, and a number of team members have moved from Disc Makers to BookBaby as work has shifted. Plus we're pursuing a number of other growth opportunities. We have also continued to focus on staff training and development, and on providing opportunities for advancement, and many of our team members have moved into other positions and gotten promotions in the past year alone. As far as the suggestion for me to get my hands dirty some more... point taken. After 10 years of being CEO there's always room for improvement. I'll work on that. Thanks for the feedback. Pros

It was good pay. They were flexible about time off, sickness, etc. to a point.

Cons

They became "corporate" and the atmosphere is cold now. Nobody sees each other because we are all WFH, which is good and bad. Sales team promises things they can't deliver, Artists are expected to churn out things quickly. Printing is okay. it just feels like you are killing your soul.
