Pros

Background: Discovery Communications purchased Scripps Networks Interactive in March 2018. Since the merger, new teams have been created with leadership from both sides of the organization but primarily led by Discovery Communications employees. Once the "new" company was created, a new set of "guiding principles" were created toting "#ONETEAM" as the uniting force between both organizations. "We are #oneteam working together toward a common goal. We work "collaboratively" with one another always," are some of the statements that are regularly toted by leadership.

Cons

#OneTeam is a lie. Former members of the Discovery Communications team are regularly chosen for leadership positions, given promotions and pay increases. Scripps Networks Interactive employees are seen as the ugly step children who are expected to keep their head down, execute and be thankful they still have a job. New employees have a little more say but “this is how we’ve always done it” and “well, at Discovery Communications this is how we do it,” will always persist. New employees were “chosen” by the Discovery Gods so are treated better than the talentless Scripps employees. It will always be “US” vs. “THEM” mentality until a larger company purchases them (give it 2-4 years, hey Disney or Google!)

Pros

Generous attendance policy, Generous PTO, company dedicated to diversity.

Cons

Pay is lower as company includes all benefits into compensation. HR is terrible, but that is always the case. Interview process is always dragged out and never transparent
