A company with great potential, but terrible leadership - Anonymous employee Discovery, Inc. Employee Review

Pros

At one point, DDN had some of the most talented and cool people working in internet video. There was a sense that as a team we could do the impossible. But this attitude and the talented people have left DDN.

Cons

Compared to any company in the bay area, DDN is a bare bones operation. There are no snacks, never enough video equipment, and always a line for the bathrooms. But I never really cared about that stuff. The biggest problem I had with DDN is its lack of competent leadership. The company has reorganized itself a number of times since Discovery Communications bought it, which is important when a company is developing and refining its strategy. But instead of honing their approach for their shows and networks, they shut them down and start something from scratch. Which seems to be a "throwing stuff at the wall" approach. I think it is healthy to look at what's working and what isn't, but I don't think the leadership knows what a good idea is until it is already successful. If you wait until something is successful on the internet then you are late to the game and there isn't much hope of catching up.

Pros

Generous attendance policy, Generous PTO, company dedicated to diversity.

Cons

Pay is lower as company includes all benefits into compensation. HR is terrible, but that is always the case. Interview process is always dragged out and never transparent
