Pros

- Some freedom to determine work schedule - Very rarely required to work weekends - Paid holidays

Cons

- Because you'll be hired as a contractor for the government, you'll work with outdated software languages and development methodologies - Retired military personnel are routinely, and as policy, paid less than their civilian counterparts who do the same thing - There are extremely limited opportunities to advance beyond what you were originally hired to do - You start with two (2) weeks a year vacation, but it takes fifteen (15) years of employment with company to get to four (4) weeks - Absurd timekeeping policies require salaried employees to account for EVERY minute of the day in three different time tracking systems - Mid-level management selected due to technical competence and senior management familiarity instead of known management abilities - Incompetent mid-level management do a poor job of determining fair and equitable standards, making them known, and applying them to all employees - Incompetent mid-level management do not identify specific duties and swim lanes for individual positions and fail to communicate them if known - Requirement to keep government happy and generate additional business necessitates numerous cumbersome and inefficient processes precluding employees from accomplishing anything and achieving any real job satisfaction

Pros

Great bunch of people: talented, professional, smart, easy to get along with. Gave regular pay raises. Upper management are nice and smart. I actually agreed with most of their decisions.

Cons

None I can think of. I left for reasons of my own, actually regretting having to leave the company.

Pros

I was a contractor for a DoD department in another state from the DTSI home office. Of the DTSI personnel I only ever met my manager, and had only occasional need for communications with HR. All my interactions were supportive and professional. I feel that the DTSI administration had my back and went to bat for me and the other contractors on my team. The healthcare benefits were good and the company went beyond expectations in covering the employer contribution. My 401(k) was 100% vested from the start.

Cons

The auxiliary benefits provided by DTSI (dental, vision, STD, LTD) are through a cut-rate life insurance company that is run like a fly-by-night operation. Contact with the insurance company representative was through a Gmail account and the policies were very haphazardly administered.
