Pros

If done right, there is a way to make money. If you're looking to run all over LA county then dispatch will send you everywhere with no common sense of zoning or courteousness of shift duration or exhaustion.

Cons

Where to begin. No chain of command. No clear cut boss. Too many people with no leadership skills in the position of a leader. They constantly focus on the small things and not whats important. They claim to have a system in place to run things smoothly but each station operates differently and nobody is ever held accountable when something goes wrong. The training is non existent. When I started it was a review of EMS and not how the company is ran or what the company procedures are. A handbook was given online and changed many times through my time with the company with no warning or acknowledgement. They got rid of supervisor to "save money" then when you needed something they told you to "get approval from a supervisor". They thought having a virtual FTO was a good idea. There are no radios in your unit, only an AOL style chatroom app on your phone. Show up on scene and dive into your phone while customers and patients wonder why they are being ignored. Terrible Ipad apps for PCR. Don't let yourself be on an ALS call from clinic or still alarm because there is a change that you will not be able to pull up patient info or get a run ticket. That AOL app used for radio contact or dispatch, there are no rules, avatars are memes and like a chatroom people can be ignored. In fact dispatch will ignore you constantly when you ask basic information or conformation such as patient name or pickup location due to the previous terrible iPad PCR tech being used. Dispatch seems to want you to struggle. They will ignore you, they will lie to you and they will toss you under any and every bus they can. While people were getting in trouble for so called "misconduct" and given warnings in the AOL style chat room, this IFT company has had 4 patients die in the fields while in EMT's care during basic transport. I am not sure but with only a vitural FTO and no real filed experince it's hard to do a proper assement and detirmine how to proceed during a call. This company will sell a story to draw EMT's with the promise of a sustainable income. They will drag brand new, fresh out of EMT school into the company with no training and a false sense of what goes on out in the field. They will even enforce rules and regulations that have nothing to do with the real problems of the company. They recently decided to give a $15 raise to their EMT's. Only thing is you have to apply for it and meet the requirements. Not everyone in the company gets a raise since they are always finding new ways to "cut corners". The one thing they will not do is look out for the people they hire.
