Pros
Attentive Management, Laid - back atmosphere at the store I am at! Even though I am supposed to be part time, I am getting PLENTY of hours and can even request for more with a fair chance of my request being granted. Willingness to work will get you places with this company. The famed blues legend BB King once titled a song "Paying the cost to be the boss." If you work hard, and show promise, as well as intent to grow your career opportunities with the company, then good things will happen for you. Remember, that this is a corporation that is often looked to by young adults seeking entry level employment and are not the most reliable at times, leaving the stores commonly under staffed. Flexible work schedules are absolutely a plus! The workload could bee seen as too much for the inexperienced retail worker, but with a well equipped team of trained co- workers is a very inviting and rewarding experience! Attentiveness, alertness and professionalism is EXPECTED of employees but have no fear because these qualities are rewarded/acknowledged when shown. With the goal to have a store every 10 miles, transferring stores for whatever reason is always a friendly decision. If you one were to decide to put on their big person pants and step into management, then expect around $37 - 38,000 per year. 17 percent below the national average, but over half of what a State Trooper makes, with not much more asked for one other than to be a good leader, be responsible, and provide excellent customer care no matter what it takes!
Cons
The store has a few issues with flooding in certain areas of the during heavy rains at times and there is often too much stock sent to my store for what shelf space and storage room we have. Sky shelves are dangerous to customers and pose an overhead threat in my opinion and besides that fact, that they just look bad. The stockrooms are often small, and crammed with back-stock. Larger stock - rooms need to be be planned. The distribution center and whatever records sales do not seem to be working on the same wavelength, and inevitably leads to product waste or cluttered shelving. We often receive several boxes of one product when we still have 2-3 in back stock and the shelves will be full of the product. Roll-carts are my least favorite thing about the job, but that is just my opinion on then. I do not like how cumbersome they are and how hard they are to maneuver around those isles and corners in a small store. The truck totals are not given prior to delivery and the amount of packages received at once can be overwhelming even for a seasoned retail professional but again, with a team that is willing to try hard and be good at their jobs, this can be an obstacle that is easily overcome.
